  • 0% Upward Light
  • Minimal Lux Spill (0.5 Lux at Habitat Boundary)

Controls

Lighting Controls provide the user with a method of switching (turning On/Off), dimming (reducing light intensity) and scheduling (timer-controlled lighting) their lighting installation.

The automatic dimming controls listed above reduce the “burning hours” of the lighting installation, minimising interference with Bat (wildlife) sleeping cycles.    

 Arena Lighting connected to a timer/schedule ensures that lights are only powered for a specific time period – this can be programmed to avoid typical roosting times for Bats. 


Correlated Colour Temperature (CCT)

Warm Correlated Colour Temperatures should also be employed to ensure that luminaires do not provide unnecessarily harsh light.  Lower CCT’s are more natural in appearance and will be more inviting to wildlife. 

A CCT of 3000 Kelvin is advised for any application where wildlife habitats must be protected.

 

0% Upward Light

Downward Illumination reduces any upward light that may disrupt flight paths for Bats/Birds. Furthermore, this maintains dark buffer zones where extraneous lux spill could force migration. 

Additional control can be gained over upward and lateral light though accessories such as back spill guards and glare shields.  These can often be installed retrospectively to further decrease the distance covered by the light output.
